Level Up in Our Community of Conscious Leaders
The Productive Flourishing Academy now has two tracks (labs) with coaching, content, and community designed to support each. One track is for leaders of teams and organizations and the other is for entrepreneurs, business owners, and founders.
The Academy is a private educational community for owners, leaders, and creatives who want to lead their businesses, teams, and communities in ways that are profitable, authentic, holistic, and powerful. It's like a skills lab for your leadership and business owner work, combined with a supportive community that holds you accountable. By joining the Academy, you’ll learn how to be an effective leader, while maintaining the heart that makes you a whole human.
Click on "For Leaders" or "For Entrepreneurs, Owners, and Founders" expanders below to see how the two tracks support our members.
The Leader’s Lab in PFA is like a skills lab for leveling up your leadership, without adding to your already full load as a leader.
You will be doing your work as a leader in a safe container with other leaders, led by Charlie and Angela (who both have more than two decades each of leading under their belts), and bypassing weeks, months, quarters, even years of doing it the hard way.
Imagine being handed a roadmap (content) that addresses the challenges leaders face in their work, a fairy godmother and sage wizard (coaching) to help when hurdles show up on the path, and a success pack (community) that gets it because they’ve been there before or are there themselves.
Good leaders don’t go it alone and they often need coaching and borrowed ears and brains outside of the team and company they are working in to get the perspective they need and set a plan for aligned progress for their teams.
Join the Academy to help level up your leadership. Bonus, you level up your life in the process, because we center you and the way you want to show up in your work, with your team, and in the world and will help keep you accountable to being the best version of you.
How it works:
The Leader’s Lab is a structured way to get the coaching, development, and hands-on work you need to do #done, all while continually leveling up your leadership.
You’re a busy leader and can’t add more to your plate. Yep, we agree and we have designed the Leader’s Lab to account for that!
This is not “extra work.” In fact, it is the work you need to be doing to 2x, 5x, 10x what you and your team are able to do.
We see it like this: Put in an hour of good planning and higher level perspective getting, with a world class coach and other leaders, get out goals met and exceeded in a shorter time period, with a team that is in alignment and on board, and a lot less friction.
Each quarter starts with a team review and planning session to plot your quarter and Objectives for your team.
Each quarter will also focus on an aspect of team habits and/or leadership that we will explore in depth together through fireside chats, coaching, and hands on work that keeps your bigger picture Initiatives, Objectives, and Priorities in mind.
You will be immersively learning how to lead better, building and strengthening relationships with other leaders who will become your colleagues and peers, and keeping your eye on the bigger picture so that you can help set your team’s course for success.
Who it’s for:
The Leader’s Lab is for leaders and managers who are in organizations or teams that are hitting up against the VUCA environment we are living in and looking for ways to lead that are sustainable, in integrity, and push the needle forward for a better future for themselves, their customers, teammates, colleagues, shareholders, and partners.
The type of organization doesn’t matter as much as the desire of the leader to be a catalyst for good work in the company that doesn’t come at the expense of self or others.
As a leader you probably have dealt with or know some of these challenges all too well:
- It’s easy for your team to drift off track because you are heads-down in the work and your team hasn’t had the guidance it needs (you thought they did!) or
- You are too deep in the work your team was hired to do (you thought they were trained!) and can’t focus on your 10X work or
- Priorities seem to keep shifting in a way that doesn’t get important objectives realized as goals (that goal has been “pushed back” quarter by quarter over the last 3 years!) or
- You are focused on the day-to-day or week-to-week management of your team and projects, rather than the quarterly or yearly or further vision that your company needs you to have or
- Your schedule looks like Swiss cheese and you don’t have the focus time you need for, yet again, your 10X work
Clearly, we could go on and on with this list, but we know you get it. You’re a busy leader. It’s not that you aren’t a good leader. You need support with making time to get the focus you need to do your best work, which will help your team get the clarity they need to make great things happen in the world.
As a leader, you have likely already learned that when you can do the deep, focused planning and the magic 10X work that only you can do in your company, you and your team and your company thrive.
You’re ready to level up yourself, your leadership, your team, and your company in a way that does good in the world. You’ve come to the right place.
An extra note for those who have been interested in one-on-one work with Charlie or Angela: It’s possible that you have wanted to work with Charlie for coaching or consulting but know that he is currently not taking new one-on-one clients (outside of special circumstances or within larger teams or organizations) or that you have been waiting for Angela to re-open to one-on-one clients, so we wanted to be sure to speak to that. We do not plan to take on one-on-one clients in the coming year or more, so we encourage you to join PFA so that you can get the leadership and team development support you need. You will get coaching time with us and this is the best way to get the support you need.
The Entrepreneur’s Lab in PFA is designed to support you with growing your business in a profitable, authentic, and sustainable way within a community of like-minded souls, without adding to what we know is already a very full load.
Charlie and Angela have been entrepreneurs for more than 15 years and both have more than 20 years of experience in leading, coaching, consulting, teaching, facilitation, and training. They have helped many entrepreneurs grow their businesses in ways that center their best work and keep alignment at the heart of it all, while bypassing years of struggle and doing it someone else’s way that doesn’t fit for the kind of business you want.
With content and education that has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs grow their businesses, a knack for coaching that gets below the surface and addresses the true roadblocks and challenges entrepreneurs face, and a community of big-hearted people who are going it with you, imagine how much more impact you could have. The world needs the work you do and this community can help elevate that work!
Entrepreneurship can be lonely, scary, exciting, challenging, fun, and the list goes on and on. Going it alone is the hard way and without a doubt, does not allow you to help as many people as you could with a success pack at your side. Extra brains, hearts, and hands-on your team can help elevate you and your business.
Join the Academy to help level up your business and life. Charlie and Angela and a whole community of big-hearted entrepreneurs are ready to help.
How it works:
The Entrepreneur’s Lab is structured in a way that doesn’t add to your already full plate, but helps you to manage that plate, make better business decisions, and have a full, abundant life outside of work, as well.
The Entrepreneur’s Lab gives you workshops to do the hands-on work needed to “build the business under your business,” coaching to help keep you on track, and accountability and support from peers to keep you motivated.
Entrepreneurs always have more to do than there is time in the day. We help pull you out of the weeds to work better, not work more or harder.
The work we do together with you in the Academy is not extra work; it’s actually the work you need to do so that you can stay on track with the type of business you want to have and not following some “it’s supposed to look like this” model that doesn’t work for you and who you want to be in the world.
Each quarter starts with a planning session to plot your quarter and the projects that you want to prioritize.
Each quarter will also have a focus topic related to entrepreneurship and/or business growth and development. We will explore this topic and help you stay focused on your quarterly plans through hands-on workshops and coaching that move your priorities forward, while developing your skills as an entrepreneur and business owner.
You will be immersively learning how to navigate entrepreneurship in a sustainable way that works for you, while building relationships with others on similar journeys, all while keeping alignment in life and business at the heart of the work we do together.
Who it’s for:
The Entrepreneur’s Lab is for small business owners, freelancers, and individuals who are wanting to ensure they grow their “thing” in a way that is a good fit for them. They know that they are doing things a little (or a lot) differently and they want to get the support they need for that, not be forced into a box that doesn’t work for them.
The type of business or service you offer doesn’t matter as much as the fact that you know you want to do it in a way that supports your thriving as a human, helping your customers by making their lives better, and contributing to the world in a positive way.
As an entrepreneur you may have been challenged with:
- Feeling lonely and not sure if you are making the right moves at the right time in your business
- Feeling like you have too many priorities and not enough time to get to what really matters
- Uncertainty about how to get the eyes you want on your business and not the trolls
- Growing your business when you don’t know how or where to hire or if you even want to
- Pricing your offers and the self doubts that can come with that
We all know that the list above could go on and on; entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. You want, need, and deserve to get the support that will help you elevate your business and message to the level you desire and doing it with leaders who have done that themselves and a community who is ready to go it with you is what you deserve.
You know you can have a full life and make a positive impact in the world through your work. Getting support through your success pack in the Academy can get you there faster, with more profit and more fun, and a lot more ease in your day-to-day.
Meet Your Community
While we have a Leader’s Lab and an Entrepreneur’s Lab in the Academy, we think getting to know the entire community is where it’s at.
While there is a clear track and curriculum and coaching for you whether you identify as a leader or entrepreneur, we know that you will be seeing each other and learning from each other in some of the work that we do together in the Academy and that some of you will be taking part in both tracks or one or the other at different times.
What is true of this community, whether on the leader’s or entrepreneur’s track, is that people who start as strangers become success pack members, colleagues, friends, and for some, even family. In fact, you’ll hear us refer to the community as our PFAmily, because this crew truly has your back and helps you grow.
Our members come from diverse backgrounds and fields and bring with them big hearts, lots of smarts, and a penchant for, you know, changing the world through #GoodTrouble. We are always learning from each other and the inspiration and insights we gain through our work together are life and business changing. We level up together!
Below are just a few of our members and some of their success stories from their work in the Academy.
About Productive Flourishing
Productive Flourishing was founded by Charlie Gilkey and Angela Wheeler. We are a Black-, woman-, and veteran-owned business. As people who lead from our hearts, we embrace the following values.
Reinvest in the Community
When one of us thrives we all thrive. Productive Flourishing reinvests a portion of all profits into BIPOC-owned businesses and nonprofit organizations. We make a proactive effort to hire women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ people to our team.
Anti-racism, Pro-feminism
We not only reject racism in our own lives and team, but actively work to dismantle structures and practices that disadvantage people based on their race, gender, sexual identity, or other inherent traits.
Hustle Culture is Toxic
The form of capitalism that exploits workers and refuses to compensate them well for their time and energy is toxic to our society. We actively engage in a fulfilling, wealthy life that is balanced with family, friends, rest and joy, and strive to enable the folks we work with to do the same.
Leadership Should Be Inclusive
Our culture tends to define leadership exclusively. The word itself conjures up a certain series of traits: bold, decisive, action-oriented, white and male. We strive to expand that default image to include great leaders from all kinds of backgrounds who might be quiet, humble, and lead from their heart while still holding people accountable.
Meet Charlie & Angela, the founders of Productive Flourishing
Charlie Gilkey. I am the lead consultant, coach, and strategist at Productive Flourishing. I have nearly 20 years of fieldwork that incorporates systems thinking, strategy execution, leadership and organizational development, practical innovation, and communication.
Besides the technical expertise, I possess a passionate drive to help business owners and leaders achieve more than they could have ever imagined. My experience includes leading 200+ soldiers in the U.S. Army, 14 years consulting leaders in various industries in for-profit and nonprofit industries, writing award-winning books, and serving on various boards. My forthcoming book, Team Habits, is a guide to creating practices in teams that create great results and belonging.
Angela Wheeler. I am the co-founder and chief community builder at Productive Flourishing. With a passion for facilitation and an unparalleled ability to get to the heart of what drives leaders and change makers, I consider it an honor to hold space for and be a mirror for others to do their best work.
I have more than 20 years of experience teaching, coaching, facilitating, and leading in different sectors, including in academia, for-profit and non-profit industries, and spiritual communities. With my broad knowledge and experience, and a unique lens of rooted leadership that focuses on strengths and development, not deficiencies, I help leaders create dynamic, authentic, trustworthy, and high-growth environments.
Your Investment
We know your time, energy, attention, and money are precious resources and we honor that. It can be challenging to know how to put a price tag on some things and this may be one of them for you, especially if you have been in programs, groups, or communities that promised a lot and didn't deliver. That's not how we roll around here. When you sign up and show up, we show up with you and will roll up our sleeves to support you in making progress on your priorities that elevate you, your team, and your business. We're invested in your success and thriving.
The annual price of membership in the Academy is $3,000 and is paid after your no-cost discovery and roadmapping session. We're asking you to take the time to fill out the application so that we know you are invested and we are investing our time to meet for a no-cost session to make sure we are a good fit for one another. That fit matters! We only want people who are a good fit, as it serves none of us if it doesn't fit.
If you're a leader or manager, being in the Academy will support you to
- Make better decisions that could gain or cost your company or organization $100k or more every year
- Lead your teams so they perform better sustainably (without the burnout/stuck/new-team cycles)
- Feel less lonely from having to always be "on" without someone to support you
- Redesign or rediscover the parts of your job that you love and help you give other people their jobs back
- Be an all-around more resourced, centered, and purposeful leader, in whatever context you're in (home, work, community, etc.)
If you're an entrepreneur, founder, or small business owner, being in the Academy will support you to
- Find and focus on growing from the scalepoints in your business
- Build products, services, and other offers faster and at better prices - our members are often surprised at how quickly they're going to market and hitting their business goals
- Learn how to hire and integrate your first teammates OR how to work with team leaders and managers for the first time
- Get out of the burnout/stuck cycles in your business faster
- Avoid being the workaholic, lonely, no-time-for-anything-but-business road that's all too easy to fall into walking
Pick any one or two of those outcomes and dollarize what they'd be worth to you. The outcome-value is likely 10x or greater than the $3,000 annual membership – and that's why so many of our members have stayed with us for going on three years now.
Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a no-pressure call to help you and us make sure you’re a good fit for the Academy. You book a call with Angela to talk about your goals and whether the Academy is right for you. Angela will help you understand whether the Academy will help you get where you want to go, and, if so, helps you plot out your first quarter and beyond with us.
That is totally up to you and we want to make sure you understand that the time you put into the Academy is not extra time on top of the work you are already doing. It is time better spent and will save you precious time, energy, and money by helping you focus. Angela will help you make a roadmap during your discovery session that will set your path for the Academy. A good plan to make sure you get the best benefit from your time with us is to expect to spend 2 - 4 hours/quarter on your quarterly planning and review and another 2 - 4 hours per month in either hands-on workshops or coaching sessions.
If you are someone who thrives with having buddies and accountability that will help you get your work done faster you can spend even more time in the community every week doing hands-on work with an accountability team and/or in co-working sessions.
We want to make sure you know that you are making a year-long commitment by joining us in the Academy. We take the time to have a discovery and roadmapping session with you before you join to make sure we are a fit for one another and that you can grow within the container we have created for our phenomenal community. We do not give refunds. This is a commitment that requires dedication and work and we are committed to being accountable to you for the commitment you have made. Our hope is that this will be more than a year-long commitment and that you will want to stay with us and this community for the long term as you continue to grow.
Absolutely! We know that cool people attract cool people 😉 and we want our community to continue to grow. For existing members, we have a referral bonus if someone joins based on your recommendation.
