“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell
Some days just go sideways.
Today was one of those days for me. I had a strong sense that I needed to go to the office before I started working so that I wouldn’t spend all day in transition between meetings, driving downtown, getting set up in my downtown office, and so on.
It turned out that my intuition was partially right — it was a day full of transitions. But in between those transitions, I got some mid-morning snuggle time with Angela and finished a note for a friend that I likely wouldn’t have finished had things gone to plan.
Sure, I didn’t get to a few emails, make progress on the Pillars PDF, or get this post out earlier, but in the grand scheme of things, the day going sideways was probably the best way it could’ve gone. And yes, it’s always easier to see in hindsight.
What’s true of our days tends to be true of our lives.
In what ways are you better off because your days, years, or life have gone sideways?
