September 2021 Planning Tips: Sustainably Ramp Up Your Productivity
It’s that time of year where many of us start to dust off our projects that got left with the umbrellas and sweaters of springtime in lieu of OOO and PTO.
With the school season returning along with cooler, more energizing temps lulling us out of our humidity-induced daze, it’s time we tell summer that it doesn’t have to go home, but it can’t stay here. That we are putting our flip flops by the front door and reemerging into our professional lives with more drive and determination to start finishing what matters most.
But what if we dared to dream, and continued to balance our personal lives with the important work we do professionally, as we move into the back half of the year? What if we could put our headphones on and get back at it, while still enjoying a stroll with the dog during golden hour?
No matter if you’re a senior employee stepping into a management role or if you’re starting to feel the resistance and overwhelm of these increasingly busier days, staying organized is the number one way to help keep your relaxed summer state of mind.
By starting at the weekly level, you can build your base for more productive days and months:
Review your month’s goals and priorities and then, from there, choose what you’ll focus on each week at a time.
Don’t overcommit! Look at other obligations, appointments, and upcoming events to set yourself up for success, with realistic expectations.
Allocate any extra bits of time to rest and self-care. Whether that’s an hour spent reading on the couch or just five minutes to breathe in the backyard, it’s important to pencil in time to care for yourself.
