I was doing some list management in Twitter and found myself on the brink of overwhelm keeping up with people and their content. This spurred me to think about how it must feel for the big middle of people who aren't hyperplugged into everything.
The wonderful conversant I mentioned in the video is Janet Goldstein, my book doctor/midwife. We had a great talk to today about the next steps on the book. If you're interested in writing a book and don't know who she is, remedy that quickly by checking her out.
Recommendations from the video:
Never assume people are on all of your channels
Highlight your best stuff
As best you can, have one primary channel where people can get your stuff
Give people compelling and useful summaries. Don't make them read too much before they decide whether it's relevant for them.
Learn to be more of a content curator than just a content creator
This is video #1 of the Don't Overthink It! project. The goal here is to practice some things I've been meaning to get around to - in this case, doing more video blogging - and, as the name might suggest, not overthink it.
