We’re just getting back from Lift Off 3 and a few people have asked how it went. I’m upholding my tradition of talking about the event via video, so here it is!
In case you’re new here and haven’t heard me gush brag talk about Lift Off, it’s a 3 and a half day event where we help people revision, retool, and rock their business. Or, to use Deena‘s description: “it’s a 3 day MBA for entrepreneurs.”
A few others have written about their Lift Off 3 experience, so, if you’re interested, you can check them out:
- Energy Comes From Right People, Right Partners, and Right Work by Pam Slim
- “What I Learned At Lift Off” by Liz Dennery Sanders
- Every Successful Business Has a Powerful Community Behind It. Got One? by Barbara Stafford
(I’ll keep these updated for those who want to share but are still settling in.)
The picture below captures another Lift Off tradition…
We have some other surprises and updates coming out about Lift Off soon, so stay tuned if you’re interested. In the meantime, Pam and I will be encouraging the participants to let us publicly share the song and dance they put together. Seriously.
This sounds so intriging and exciting! I hope to escape soon. I have one foot in corporate and one in business
Charlie: in LiftOff, you and Pam gave us a transformational business and life experience. You provided the perfect blend of practical, psychological, intellectual, and emotional boosting, tools and structure.
I will be writing more about your incredible program in my own blog post (just try and shut me up!), but I would like to officially give permission to you and Pam to go public with THE LIFTOFF SONG. (I’ll be sure to send you the spellchecked final version). As you taught us to embrace our talents, I take credit for initiating, creating and directing this musical tribute to you and Pam. However, I must also give huge credit to the many other crazy, creative, warped and witty minds (yes, all the rest of our gang!) who edited, polished, co-choreographed, sang, dance, acted, stage managed, and performed this heartfelt and hysterical celebration. The expression “We Rock” takes on a literal meaning in our special group!
Ditto what Deena said! I think “transformational” is the word that captures it best for me. I am literally a different person, because my sense of myself and my capacities has been expanded far beyond what I brought to the ranch on Thursday.
And: as co-conspirator, co-choreographer and dancing fool, I also authorize the release of the Lift Off talent video to the world. I have no idea how silly we will look (I’m sure it will be *very* silly), but more importantly I think it will share some fierce joy and self-expression with others. And we all need more of that.
In all modesty, I have to say that we were an amazing group! But, as my singing and dancing sisters Deena and Julica (yes, I proudly claim my place in the the Lift Off 3 Song and Dance Conspiracy!) implied, we would not have morphed into the powerful force for business and personal transformation we’ve become without the wise, loving and whip smart guidance of you and Pam.
You guys haven’t just created an awesome business workshop, you’ve created a movement! Can’t wait to see where it takes us all!
Hi, Liftoff sounds fantastik! Is this an American thing or do you know if it exist in Europe as well? Reading your post and the comments makes me want to participate, but I live in Europe:(
Love how you help people realize they’re more than just a small business!
Only when we look at what we do in a broader sense, do we fully maximize the opportunity we’ve stepped into.
One of my girlfriends owns a small boutique shop selling shoes and hats and when I asked her what business she thought she was in she said, “Retail.” I told her, “That’s one level of the business but what if you thought of yourself as being in the transportation business.
She was like, “What?” I told her, “Yeah. The transportation business. You take people from where they are, to where they want to be. And having this mindset could easily lead you to believe that you’re a fashion consultant, not just a retail operator. If you take on the identity of a fashion consultant, you’re almost compelled to look at the bigger picture of how you can REALLY serve your client at the highest level because you’re looking for ways to take their image to where they want it to be. This makes you look for people to partner/JV (salons/barbers, other boutiques, spas, etc.) with to accomplish this outcome. It allows to offer fashion coaching. On and on.”
Let’s just say this smart woman’s light turned on when she heard this concept of expanding how she saw herself and I’m glad to hear you’re doing that for people who attend your Lift Off.
Congrats on the success. When will the next one be?
