So… this year is not going according to plan, and during this particular time of year, we may be feeling it all a little extra. The school year is being rounded out with parents taking on a second job as substitute teachers, commencements are canceled, and graduation parties are going down without the same pomp and circumstance. Those first backyard barbecues of the year are now digital happy hours on the couch, and an after-work run has turned into a glorified game of Frogger, dodging walkers, strollers, bikers, and more.
Oh, and we’re still working from home, that is if you’re lucky enough to have that option and are not one of the millions of essential workers who aren’t able to (and who we truly can’t thank enough). So whether you’re in a position where focusing on getting through each day as it comes is taking all of your strength and patience, or you’re starting to become stir crazy, bursting with new projects and ideas, remember that it’s natural to be emotional during this time, and to go through ups and downs, maybe even in the same hour. It’s OK to mourn the inability to connect with co-workers in real time and to empathize with your kids who are missing milestone events. This is our new normal, for now, and we’re strong enough to adapt. You are strong enough to adapt, and you don’t have to go it alone.
Our Free Planners for May are now available to help keep your day, week, and month organized, because scheduling meetings around perfecting your banana bread recipe for the 10th time is self-care. You may also want to pick up our newest planners, the Daily and Weekly Momentum Planner Cards. When you can’t think too far ahead, you can focus on only today or this week. You need planning that’s just enough to get the job done, without adding another layer of overwhelm to what you’re already going through – and we don’t blame you, because we’re right there with you.
If you’re needing some real digital face-to-face time, please join us for May’s Momentum Call. Jump on to listen, or ask a question to Charlie and Angela about priorities, planning, or staying productive during a pandemic. This free call is happening Monday, May 11th at 2:00 p.m. PDT / 5:00 p.m. EDT, and we’d love to have you there.
