Loved your post. Reminded me of another wonderfully clear post you wrote about our "stuff." The 5 things you'd take in the fire, etc. I share it with my classes. Gadgets and technology: the means to the end, no the end. How many people apologize for using an old fashioned notebook planner instead of a pda -- the majority of people I work with -- apologizing. But they know the few tools and the right tools that work for them. I'm sharing this one ... thanks.

"The best hammer is not necessarily the one made of the finest materials. It’s the one you actually drive the nails with."

Truer words have never been written.

The true measure of any tool is its effect on your real work output.

Hey there, Ken, and welcome aboard:

Well, Charlie's a wise guy (no pun intended) to invite you over to guest post on his blog. It was a really smart decision.

Your post reminded me of a time when I used to buy things from the market like there was no tomorrow: this gadget, that tool, etc.

Pretty soon, my closet was so full of junk that every time I opened it, the dang stuff would land on me and I would be flattened.
To make things worse, I was born with two left feet and kept on tripping over the stuff.

Don't be greedy: focus on what you need.
And if you can do without it, much better.
Make the most of what you have and use it as creatively as you can. Thanks, Ken.

This could not have come at a more perfect time! I have been struggling trying to do some self assessment. So many of these questions will be a tremendous help with some vision that is much needed.
